This past week, has been low tides and shabby waters - my poker has been so sickly off it's disgusting. The mix of cold cards n' bad play had put me in the dirt. I don't even want to get into the numbers, but it's off.
I've been playing 25$ rooms and 50$ rooms and going up to as much as 1 - 2 $ online, and i've always wondered how people could manage to donate so much money in such ridiculous situations. I've got a taste of the state of mind these folks must be in.
On the good side of things, i seem to have got out of my hole and i'm definetly starting to make some wise play. I'de like to talk about a hand that happened on monday night as i was getting into some late night poker.
> I was playing .25 tryin 2 get my bank roll up. I got KK in the big blind. The dealer had already come in for a raise, and a reraise from small blind to 3$ now usually, in this situation i'de come in for a reraise, but i felt that the only cards the small blind could have would have been queens or aces. So intead of making the pot any bigger than it should be, I felt the dealer was holding a couple of rags and I would have been happy to drag him in the pot. The flop - was AA 9.
The small blind checked. Should have been a huge warning sign. I kind of looked past this, i was very tired and sleepy. I bet out a small portion of the pot. Now, at this point, where a 4.50$ bet would have been good a good bet into a 8$ pot, I bet out 1$. The purpose of this bet was a mere value bet having put my opponent on QQ. On the turn, I bet out 2 $ and was quickly raised to 10$ - the size of the pot. I felt it was completely impossible for my opponent to hold 2 aces, and my mind stubbornly settled on pocket queens. What i had looked past was teh fact that my opponent could have had AK, which was exactly what he had. SO basicly - the moral of this story, is look past your gut at all times. Your gut, can at times mislead you into doing some extremely terrible things, n' looking further into situations can usually lead you to a better decision.
-- besides that - my goal for this week is 300$

Intro
My name is Val Yakovchik. I've created this log to keep track of my poker careerr.
A little on about my poker adventures - I've played poker for almost a year now. I started out playing in home tournaments and found my stay in on online poker due 2 the little activity involving poker in my home town. Throughout the course of the action, I've gone broke majorly about 3 times. In fact, my first interaction in online real stakes, I ran a bill of 350$ on my parents credit card. It took me a week to pay em' back n' I started playing alot since then. I remember playing hours on end making alot of money just as crearly as i remember sitting there with 2$ left in my online bank roll playing .05 .1 trying to make it back. It's been a hell of a ride, and I expect to keep it going for a long, long time.
To keep it a ted more organized, this log was made early December 2006 to keep track of all the big highlights of my carreer. House games, stake games, online games, casino games - everything that's going to happen to me in the near future. Anyone is welcome to read this - but this was made solely for my own peace of mind.
that's all for now.
